In training with the Modern Mystery School, we learn that Light (with a capital “L”) is key to being of service to others, but what does that mean exactly?
In checking the dictionary definition of light, I find:
- the sensation aroused by stimulation of the visual receptors,
- something that makes things visible or affords illumination,
- a form of radiant electromagnetic energy that can be perceived by the human eye.
All accurate, of course, but these pertain to our physical sense of sight—seeing with our eyes.
But here we are talking about Light in the spiritual sense:
- I can see the light in her/his eyes
- Let your light shine
- The light within
- Share your light
- Spread the light
- Keep the light going
- Hold more light
- Feel the light
We are beings of Light. We came into this world with Light. However, there may be areas in our energetic structure where the Light doesn’t flow. This could be due to physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual trauma. Or it could be due to negativity in our environment—people as well things. We need to change the filters and clean and polish the container so that Light can flow and and leave us open to healing and transformation.
Light is positive energy; dark is negative energy. Light illuminates that which is in the dark; that which is holding us back from a joyful and meaningful life.
Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi (Prayer for Peace)
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
The Light brings greater Joy and Peace to us and to those around us. It is what we strive for. It keeps our vibration high. It is what allows us to “see” clearly, without distraction.
It gives us Hope where there is doubt.
It gives us Joy where there is sorrow.
It gives us Meaning where there is insignificance.
It gives us Peace where there is conflict.
It gives us Healing where there is pain.
It gives us Beauty where there is ugliness.
It gives us Good where there is evil.
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”—Martin Luther King
If you don’t allow your Light to shine and share it with others, it will fade.
Nurture your Light:
- Choose positivity in all aspects of your life
- Meditate
- Pray
- Take time to be quiet
- Love always
- Laugh often
- Take good care of you
Be a beacon in a lighthouse, constantly shining light on everyone and everything.
“Let your light shine so brightly that others can see their way out of the dark.” —Katrina Mayer
